10th Annual Heritage & Antique Machinery Festival 2013 May 3rd, 4th & 5th |

The Halifax County Virginia Heritage & Antique
Machinery Festival was established in 2003 by a group of interested citizens
to help preserve the heritage of our county. At the present time this
event is being held the 1st weekend in May of each year at the Halifax
County Fairgrounds. This year the festival will begin on Friday May
3rd and and run through May 5th, 2013. . Contributions to the community through scholarships,
equipment donation to the local school system and visits to the local
nursing homes have been made over the past few years. Vendors are welcome by
filling out application online or mailing one to the festival
contacts., but no food vendors will be allowed. A vintage stock car driven by legendary NASCAR driver, Wendell Scott will be on display at the Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival this weekend. (more)

Berkley Wright, Jr. aka “Skeeter” is slated to play Saturday afternoon, May 4 at the 10th Annual Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival. Inspired by his uncle Norman Wright, who made a career in the music business and appeared on “Hee-Haw,” Skeeter learned to play the guitar at the age of 15 under the instruction of Ronnie Riddle. Skeeter will take center stage at 4:45 pm and perform solo some of the many songs he has written over the years.

Clark has donates cupboard to the Halifax County Heritage Festival Committee to be given away from wood from the old Cluster Springs School
. A few years ago the old school was torn down and local furniture maker, Kenny Clark helped with the demolition and was able to carefully preserve some of the old yellow pine floor joists. Clark, a third generation furniture maker, is pictured with a jelly cupboard he made using re-claimed wood from the old school. Clark has donated the cupboard to the Halifax County Heritage Festival Committee to be given away. Raffle tickets are now on sale and available from committee members. A drawing will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Heritage Festival.
