Caudle Brothers to participate in the 8th Annual Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival.

Henry and Herbert Caudle of Virgilina will again participate for the eighth year at the Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival.

The Caudle brothers have been collecting antique tools for 35 years and have been members of the Mid-West Tool Collectors Association for over 30 years.  They attended the M-WTCA National Tool meeting last summer in Camp Hill, PA, both winning awards for their displays.

At this year’s Heritage Festival, Henry Caudle will be showing his award winning display of unusual and rare hand saws manufactured by Henry Disston & Company.  The Henry Disston & Company was founded in Philadelphia, PA in 1840 and re-located to Danville, VA in the mid 1950’s.

The Caudle’s have also participated in the Mid-West Tool Collector’s Association Preservation and Education Committee.   They have helped to identify and collect tools for displays at Mt. Vernon, Popular Forest, and Stratford Hall – the historic homes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Robert E. Lee respectively.  They are currently working in association with well-known African-American furniture maker Thomas Day’s home located at Milton, NC.

The Caudle brother’s antique tools, as well as many other interesting and unique exhibits will be on display at the Halifax County Heritage and Antique Machinery Festival May 6, 7, and 8 at Halifax County Fairgrounds.  Festival times are Friday, May 6 from 12 noon until 9 pm; Saturday, May 7 from 9 am until 9 pm; and Sunday, May 8
