2019 Halifax County Heritage & Antique Machinery Festival

Calling all tractor enthusiasts to the Halifax County Heritage Festival for “Tractor Games!”  A new and exciting attraction being presented by Robert and Sue Gregory of Java, VA.

Robert, an Oliver tractor collector, has been hard at work this winter planning this new feature for the 16th Annual Halifax County Heritage & Antique Machinery Festival and appreciates the opportunity to showcase his collection.

“We folks in Southside Virginia are fortunate to have the Halifax County Heritage Festival right here in our backyard.  It is a result of 16 years of dedication to preserving our rural heritage. This year we will have “Tractor Games” as a new featured event,” said Robert.

An avid tractor collector and presenter at regional and area festivals, Robert explains, “Many who participate in events like the Heritage Festival know what it is like to have a favorite antique tractor to show.   It may be a family heirloom, or maybe it is just like the one Granddaddy used to have.  It may be restored to showroom condition or it may be “in its work clothes.”

“Collectors receive lots of enjoyment from driving their pride and joy in a parade, or just putting it on display and swapping stories with interested spectators.  However, our sincere hope is that the tractor games will add even more enjoyment for exhibitors of antique tractors and spectators as well, “added Robert.

The games being planned include barrel rolling, going through the gate (without letting the cows out), keeping the monkey in the air, putting the chain in the box and others.  Husbands and wives are needed as teams for the hilarious gee-haw game.  Robert and Sue Gregory invite everyone out to the 16th Annual Halifax County Heritage & Antique Machinery Festival to join them for some fun and laughter and maybe some friendly competition, too.
